Reading The Ad Correctly

Have you ever shopped for a new car by the ads that you see in the newspaper? If so, you are not alone. The fact of the matter is that a lot of people shop for a car by reading what they see in the paper. After all, this is a great way to get the information that you need and also find out what dealers are offering good deals. But even though these ads have a lot to offer, you should remember that they are not always what they seem. Unfortunately, car dealers will place ads that can be misleading so that you show up at the dealer. From there, they will try to sell you something that you do not want.

The Price

The price is probably the first thing that will jump out at you when you are looking at car ads in the newspaper. But before you get excited about what you see, make sure that you read the fine print. First off, if you are looking at a monthly payment price there is a good chance that it is for a lease. This way, the number is lower and people get excited about the type of deal they can get. If you are looking at a price such as $25,000, you should also consider scrolling down to the bottom of the ad. You may find out that this price is only good if you put $3,000 down, or if you qualify for some other type of rebate.

Equipment

Another thing to consider when reading a car ad is the type of equipment that comes in the car. The dealer will do whatever they can in order to make their ad jump off the page at you. This includes adding a low price that goes along with a low level of equipment. In other words, they will use the base price in the ad and when you get to the dealer they will tell you that all of those cars are gone.

Call First

f you want to turn things around on car dealers who use ads like this, give them a call before you head to the dealer. Tell them that you saw their ad, and that you are interested in making a deal. But before you get off the phone tell them that you want some clarification on the ad. This way you will be able to pin them down from the start. If the ad is a lie you are much better continuing your search because you will never be able to get the deal that you thought.
