Warranties
Anytime that you buy a car you will want to take the warranty that you receive into consideration. After all, if something goes wrong it is always nice to not have to pay for it. But with that being said, warranties are sometimes difficult to understand. After all, they are not the same with each manufacturer. For this reason, make sure that you take your time when deciding what car to buy. Getting one with a good warranty is always an excellent idea.
What they cover
There are many different things that your car warranty will cover. In fact, anything that cannot be deemed as normal wear and tear will more than likely be covered under warranty. For instance, a transmission problem will be covered as long as your warranty is still good. But on the other side of things something like a cracked oil pan may not be. The reason for this is that it has nothing to do with the car itself, and more to do with the way that you drive. But remember, you should always check with your dealership's service department to get an idea as to if you are covered.
The Length of your Warranty
Another thing that you will want to consider is the length of your warranty. Although it would be nice if your warranty lasted for the entire time that you had the car, this is not usually the case. There are three basic warranty structures that car manufacturers usually follow. They are 3 years/36,000 miles, 5 years/60,000 miles, and 10 years/100,000 miles. Of course these are only the common warranties; there are others. Generally speaking, this means that as soon as you reach a certain age limit or mile limit your warranty will end.
s you can see, warranties are very important when it comes to buying a car. Although most new cars come with warranties, some used ones may not. This is something that you should remember when you are searching for a car. It is much better to have a long warranty just in case something goes wrong. Although warranties are not as fun as adding options to your new car, it is something that you need to strongly consider.
